We are publishing our transport statistics in a standardised way using our open data API. It’s easy to programmatically access and read our data creating opportunities for you to innovate with it.
Why have we developed our API?
Transport statistics data is voluminous and valuable, and we want to make it as easy as possible to use in your data processes.
APIs allow for machine to machine querying, removing the barriers to access data at scale. APIs are not useful in all cases, but by providing data as a service, the opportunity for significantly reducing the barrier to access data and proliferate innovation with help you as researchers, data managers and innovators.
Services using our API can:
- reduce the time and cost of sourcing data from across government
- receive data that is ready to use with no need for data cleansing
- be confident that their service is using the most up-to-date government data
How to access our API
All transport statistics data can be accessed and used freely by anyone.
You can use our API to read data and use in your data processes. All data is available as JSON and adheres to the JSON API specification.
You can also download a copy of each dataset, typically, in CSV format.
